within a song are musical phrases, within musical phrases are sounds, within sounds are pauses and moments. that song you heard a long time ago, that phrase within the song, that sound within the phrase, that moment within the sound, why can't you remember it? the elusive moment escapes you, like a ghost, all you're stuck with is the phrase; there is no more song, only the phrase, now only the sound. the brain swells rapidly, and catastrophically, after a person suffers a second concussion before symptoms from an earlier one have subsided, there occurs second impact syndrome. stuck forever, in a loop, then cannibalized by other thoughts that blur the memory, make it into something else, or completely take over. this ghost siege on the mind cuts off parts of you, buries the treasure, forgets to write a map for it. how that song went is completely lost, swallowed by the ghosts. forever forgiven and lost.
